Common Plumbing Questions

cloudy tap water solutionWe’ve all experienced a leaky faucet or two and, of course, an occasional clogged toilet. Google actually reports that “unclogging a toilet” garners more than 700K searches per month. On this week’s episode of You Got This! we discuss solutions to the most commonly googled questions around plumbing.

First, we discuss what to do if you have a stinky kitchen sink. If you’ve determined the smell isn’t sewer, you can rule out a safety issue. The fastest solution is to use enzymes and put them down your sink. You can pick up these enzymes at your local hardware store or big box retailer, usually. The enzymes will eat up the organisms that are causing the odor, and will keep them from growing back. This will eliminate the odor.

Also, we answer the question “why are my pipes knocking when the toilet is flushed?” Believe it or not, the solution is budget friendly, and quite easy to remedy.

Another popular Google search is people wanting to know “why do I have cloudy tap water?” The good news here is that it’s typically air. If you get your water from a well, the culprit could be naturally occurring sediments, which are not normally harmful. Purchasing a water filter is a cheap and quick fix.
