Upgrading your Bathroom on a Budget

bathroom upgrades DIYOn this week’s episode of You Got This! we discuss how you can maximize your budget and do some easy things to upgrade your bathroom. How often do we talk about bathrooms, well, kind of a lot. Because the bathroom is one of the places where you are likely to get the most for your remodel dollar, and see the money returned to you in resale.

One of of the most overlooked, and yet important parts of your bathroom is natural lighting. If you have a window in your bathroom, you’ve got a window screen. And those screens get really gross, really quick. Take a few moments to remove those, rinse and replace. Another often overlooked item is the bathroom fan. Do you know behind the face plate lurks a lot of gunk it’s picked up over the years? Much like the dust and airborne dirt that your ceiling fan picks up, your bathroom fan collects the same. Switch the power off, then remove the face plate, and carefully clean off the elements.

Changing up the light fixtures can also easily change the look and feel of your bathroom. When dealing with electricity, we certainly recommend hiring a professional, but if you feel comfortable and have a good knowledge of DIY, replacing your fixtures is a fairly easy project. You can also enhance and upgrade the look of your bathroom mirror by building a wood frame around it. This also makes the bathroom look more finished.

We discuss a multitude of ways you can fix up your bathroom this week. Our inspiration for this week’s show, and the complete list can be found here.  Listen to You Got This!, online anytime, or Fridays at 9am on KNCO Grass Valley.
