DIY Privacy Fence

hiding your trash binsNature! And all the fun creatures that live in nature… There is nothing quite as lovely as living in a beautiful mountain town, and hearing the screeching of raccoons as they paw through and celebrate your trash. One way to mitigate the trash panda parties is to create DIY bin storage units. While it may not keep the bears out, it can keep your bins out of sight, and certainly be a deterrent to the neighborhood furry nuisances.

Some HOAs require that trash bins be out of sight all together, or stored in the garage.  To keep critters out, we agree that in the garage is your best bet for success; but sometimes that’s not possible.  Trash bins are pretty unsightly, and whether you go for the Bin Storage, or the Privacy Fence that’s simply an aesthetic fix, you’re only limited by your budget and DIY comfort level.

The first step is of course measuring your trash bins. We’ve pulled together a handy supply list and link to the project if you want to create a full blown containment system.

The easier option, in our opinion, if its about aesthetics, is to create a DIY privacy fence.  That way you can maintain your curb appeal and create a nice, natural looking barrier. You can find ideas on creating your own privacy fence here.
