Re-piping
When a plumber says “re-piping,” they are referring to the process of replacing all or part of the pipes in a building. This can include both the supply pipes that bring water into the building, as well as the drain pipes that carry away waste water.
Re-piping is typically done when the existing pipes are old, damaged, or corroded and are no longer able to function properly. It may also be done as part of a remodel or renovation, in order to update the plumbing system or to accommodate new fixtures or appliances.
Re-piping can involve a range of different materials and methods, depending on the specific needs of the building and the preferences of the homeowner. Some of the most common materials used in re-piping include copper, PVC, and PEX.
Re-piping is a big job and can be invasive, it is a time-consuming and disruptive process, that typically requires cutting into walls and floors, and may require temporary relocation of residents. It is important to have a professional plumber do the job, they will have the experience and equipment necessary to properly re-pipe a building, making sure it is done correctly and up to code.
