There maybe times when you want to spruce up your space, but you don’t want to invest thousands of dollars in a traditional remodel. Or you just need to update the look of one of your rooms, perhaps your kitchen or your bathroom. This week, on You Got This!, Andrew shares several easy and affordable ways you can bring new life into your spaces, without breaking the bank.
If you’re interested in giving your kitchen a new look, you can add a faux island by upcycling a utility cart, old credenza, or even building one yourself. You may want to update the kitchen by replacing the hardware, or painting your cabinets; you can even remove the cabinet doors and add colorful paper liners to create a more open and modern look.
In the bathroom, you can easily add a medicine cabinet, change out the mirror, or the vanity or sink. While the most DIY difficulty would be the vanity change – you can easily find affordable vanity choices at your local hardware store or big box home improvement store. A new vanity can completely change the space and also add additional storage in your bathroom.
Another trend in DIY is painting the stairs. There are removable decorative adhesives that can be applied to stairs that offer a unique punch of color and interesting focal points; another option is of course to install a carpet runner, though that requires more tools, time, and patience than paint or adhesive.
Whatever your project entails, don’t forget to visit your communities local ReStore shop – where you can find hundreds of different items and pieces of furniture to revamp your space. And as always, if you find yourself looking for inspiration, Andrew recommends cruising around Pinterest for inspiration, and YouTube for instructional videos.
